About us

Maxima Development Services is a specialist consultancy offering imaginative and flexible services within the mental health and social care fields. During the past 10 years we have gained extensive experience in working with a wide range of statutory, charitable and private sector clients.

Our services include information and training on key mental health, social care, and management development themes; team development services, and skilled corporate coaching for managers within specialist and generic settings.

The Maxima Mental Health at Work Service draws on research and best practice at national level to provide confidential, professional and practical assistance for organisations experiencing mental health problems within their workforce.

Maxima offers a pool of highly experienced consultants carefully selected for their specialist knowledge and is led by Martin Faiers and Jessica McKoen.

About Martin Faiers

Martin founded Maxima in 1997 building on a successful career in mental health services, human resource management and organisational change. Since that time he has undertaken a wide range of consultancy, training, and management of change commissions for voluntary, public and private sector clients.

Martin is widely known as a highly effective and stimulating consultant, coach, trainer and facilitator who combines the ability to engage with and motivate groups and individuals with an in-depth understanding of organisations and corporate life.

All Martin’s work is based on his strong interest in achieving excellent services that genuinely meet the needs of managers and staff as well as customers and service users. In this connection he has undertaken considerable work in relation to occupational stress management and achievement of mentally healthy workplaces.

Martin has strong links within the not for profit sector and is a board member of a large mental health charity in South London which enables him to keep actively in touch with the management and running of a large service provider organisation.

Martin is qualified to Masters Degree level and is a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming. He has trained as a corporate coach with QOPD International and PPD Consulting and is licensed to administer Extended DISC, one of the world’s most effective performance tools. He is a member of the Association for Coaching, the UK’s leading body for professional coaches.

About Jessica McKoen

Jessica has worked as an independent trainer and consultant in mental health for the past ten years. During that time, she has developed and run innovative and responsive mental health training courses for a wide range of private, public and charity sector organisations across Britain.

Jessica is widely known for her lively and interactive approach towards training and her ability to help participants achieve their full learning potential. >Her training, whilst being rigorous and up to date, is also relaxed, informal and participatory.

Jessica is passionate about training in partnership with Service Users. Feedback overwhelmingly confirms that participants find these very personal accounts of service users’ journeys through the mental health system truly inspirational.

Jessica is one of the first Mental Health First Aid Instructors to be accredited in the UK to offer this award winning training course to promote mental health in the workplace.

Educated to Masters level Jessica has extensive and diverse professional interests. She has worked as a Senior Lecturer at Middlesex University, is a Mental Health Act Manager for a London Hospital and founder of a charity providing care for vulnerable young people in Uganda.
